I found a reference to a free html editor and file manager, with ftp, in PC
World magazine while sitting in a doctors office. When I got home I found
it and downloaded it, and am now using it on several websites. It rivals frontpage. It doesn't have some of the features of frontpage, like themes
and shared borders, and navigation bars, but otherwise is an excellent program for free.
For a website with multiple pages I would highly
recommend frontpage. (Microsoft
Office FrontPage 2003 - Full version) With Nvu, if you add a
page, you have to add the navigation to all of the other pages
individually, a time consuming task. With frontpage you can have a
shared border with the navigation bar, and simply add the new page to
navigation view and it will automatically be added to the navigation bar
on all pages. As well as common headings and page titles!
Nvu works great as a file manager and ftp if you have
existing web sites as well. You may also edit those sites with Nvu.
Go to www.nvu.com and
download it for free and play with it. You can create a new website with
it or just download your existing website to edit and manage. The built-in
ftp allows you to upload your changes to your server. SMOOTH!
